Busy Weekend

Wow, long time sonce I updated this. This has been an incredibly busy weekend. On Friday I tried out for field commander. Conducting a band when you have no idea what your doing is not fun. I wasn't as concerned with getting field commander so much as just not screwing up the rest of the band. I wasn't terrible at conducting, but I definantly could've done better. Tim Roark claims I might be in the running for field commander. I highly doubt that, but it might be possible, since Mr. Palm seemed rather high that night.

On saturday I went to the Xavier game verses Fordum. Xavier won by 20 but it still felt like they haven't quite adjusted to losing Thorton. They just didn't seem to know what they were supposed to be doing on the court. Sadly, I don't have very high hopes of them going anywhere in the post season. Saturday night I went over to Brian Bolte's house for his birthday party (I didn't know it was his birthday until a few minutes before I left). Everything we did was incredibly geeky, from the music that was playing to the movie we watched (Serentity), but I loved every minute of it.

Yesterday I went to Andy's house for movie night. We watched Kill Bill Vol. 1 and 2. Those are incredibly entertaining movies. The music alone makes them worth watching. I think I still like Resevoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction a bit better, but they definantly live up to my high expectations of anything by Terantino.

Also, the Disney couples dance was last week. Corinne and I went as Jack and Sally Skellington from A Nightmare Before Christmas. I must say our costumes turned out pretty damn good in a grotesque sort of way. Here's some pics from the dance:

Well I survived exams, that's always a plus.  I did fairly well on them too, except for AP comp sci.  I ended that exam the same way I ended the course itself, overwhelmed and confused by the details and wishing I had a bit more time.  That was just not my course...

Next semester should be easy.  No more comp sci, thank God.  Instead I have Wind Ensemble, which should be a lot of fun (and not much homework). I'm not in Malaborsky's class anymore since I have Mr. Brower for trig.  Mr. Malaborsky's a good teacher and quite entertaining in class, but Mr. Brower is supposed to be quite a bit easier.  Hopefully my grades will skyrocket with the easy schedule.

Heres a hilarious flash video I stumbled across: Metal Gear Solid 3: Crab Battle

Well, today was noteworthy only because of its unremarkableness.  I was somewhat tired and classes were rather boring, but not gruelling.  Even the grades on various quizzes and reports my teachers handed back were pretty much what I expected to get, but not exceptionally good.  I don't even know why I'm trying to write this entry, since nothing worth writing about happened.  One bright spot in this otherwise dull day was the humorous banter during lunch, especially AJ's comment about Harrison and his girlfriend.
Jay: "So, is Harry's girlfriend asian?"
AJ: "No."
Jay: "What?!  Is she at least eastern European?"
AJ: "No, she's half Italian and half German."
Jay:" How does that makes sense!?"
AJ: "It makes perfect sense, together they form the infamous Axis of Evil."
Maybe you had to have been there, but it was hilarious at the time, as Mattingly (I think) said, "even the jew was laughing."

Well, I'm almost back into education mode after the long break.  My teachers all seem to be in a rush to fit in everything they had plannbed for the semester, so I've had plenty of homework recently.  The worst of it seems to be over though.  I got my psat scores back and it turns out I did pretty horrible.  I went down 7%, from last yearts 95%.  Kind of disappointing, but I wasn't really expecting to do make national merit, so I guess it doesn't matter much.  On the plus side it should give me a bit more motivation to take the SAT preparation courses seriously.
Filming for the as of now nameless martial arts film that me and Mattingly are putting together is going to start pretty soon.  It should turn out pretty cool, or at least as cool as any film made by two highschool guys with a digital camera and extremely limited reasorces and being filmed during lunch period in the wrestling room at St. X.  We need some more nameless henchmen, so if anyone is willing to volunteer it'd be greatly appriciated.  With any luck we'll win the imaginary grand prize of the Film-maker's club 30 second fight scene competition.
